New to blogging

I am new to the world of blogs.  If you have suggestions or ideas that might improve my blog or my gallery drop me a note.

I look forward to learning how to interact with a remote audience and present my work on-line.

I will post photos of new pieces

I have not photographed many of my pieces but I will do so going forward.  Visit this site or my gallery regularly to see what is new.  Join my blog (using the link to the right) and invite your friends to visit/join as well.  I look forward to getting feedback and ideas for future pieces.  If you find a particular piece to be interesting let me know.  Likewise, if you find a piece to be lacking I would like know that as well.

I welcome your comments, positive or negative.

Maple and Purpleheart Ring Box

Sliding Lid Curio Boxes

These boxes are constructed with box joints at the corners and a sliding dovetail for the lid.

Maple and Walnut Flag Display Case

I was commissioned to design and build this to house and display the flag from a deceased veteran's casket.  The body of the case is maple with the trim being walnut.

Maple and Pupleheart Wall Clock

This clock was designed for a music/piano teacher.  She wanted a musically themed clock to hang in her teaching studio.  I chose purpleheart because this client really loves the color purple.  This was my first time working with purpleheart.  Be sure that your tools are really sharp and clean for best results.  While very hard, this wood is quite brittle and chips very easily.

Walnut TV Stand

Walnut TV Stand to Match Antique Trunk
The client wanted to place their TV on an antique trunk purchased in Great Britain in the 1960's but the top of the trunk is uneven and it placed the TV too low.  This piece was designed to match the antique trunk in materials (solid walnut) and finish (hand rubbed oil).  In addition there are no modern fasteners (nails or screws, etc) in the piece.  It is constructed using mortise & tenon and sliding dove tail joinery.

Display/Coffee Table and Triangular End Table

Glass Topped Coffee Table - Displays Memorabilia Dust Free

Triangular End Table
These pieces were designed to be quite contemporary and a bit unusual.  The glass topped coffee table is intended to provide a place to display small items free from dust and out of reach of naughty cats.

Maple Workbench

Maple Workbench
I designed and built this workbench for my own shop.  This bench has an end vise and a side vise with dog holes.  It is on heavy locking casters for mobility.

Cherry End Table

Cherry End Table
This end table is constructed of cherry with a ceramic tile top that was left over from tiling the floor in the room where the table is intended to reside.  The flutes cut into the legs provide some interesting contrast.
